THE COUNTRY ROAD

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
-Leonardo da Vinci

I have a new unbreakable attachment to this Country Road dress I picked up second hand at Savemart for $15!
I have worn it so much already, even repeating this exact outfit multiple times (I know, the horror, fashion bloggers do
wear the same outfit more than once!). The colour is gorgeous and goes with everything, khaki is so in style
and is a must for your wardrobe. The simple maxi style is classic, but I love the added gathering on the side
giving it the perfect shaping.

Dress : Country Road
Shoes : Hannahs
Blazer + Bag + Necklace: Thrifted
Fur Tail accessory : Gift from Katelyn

THE HELLO KITTY CAFE

"I belive in pink..."
-Audrey Hepburn

A little girls heaven is made up of all things pink. For me, I never grew out of that idea.
So that I found myself way to excited when I heard about this Hello Kitty Cafe opening up in Newmarket. I mean,
the whole place was entirely pink! So after our little shopping trip last holidays with Tara, we went with Mum and treated
ourselves at this cute little place. Granted, it cost us more than any other normal cafe, but it was so worth it ;)
Here are some photos I snapped of the cafe and all the things we bought.

Shorts, socks, bustier : Glassons
Earrings : Equip
Nail Polish : OPI
Note book + pen : Kikki.K

Although I loved the themed decorations, I dont think this cafe will become a regular place to visit because of the
average food and scary prices haha! But a fun place to come once maybe twice ;)

Hipster Fridays...

"Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again"
- Unknown

So while Ellen was out this evening (I'm not sure where, a performance maybe?), my one mission was to write up this post.
Yet somehow I forgot about that and got a bit carried away being productive in other ways (which is somewhat unusual) and
did some exercise and some sewing (which is coming along well! yay!), and completely forgot about writing this post, oops!
But all is not lost, it is technically still Friday so I'll quickly finish this and get some rest for work tomorrow.

So these are some photos that we took a little while ago, pre- busy week with rain on the only days we could take photos :(
It's starting to get dark so much earlier now that we left daylight savings behind and winter is fast approaching!
Makes taking photos a bit more challenging, but it means we will just have to be more organised...

My sewing projects have been going really well, so I'm pretty excited to share one of those with y'all next week ^.^

Pink highlights in the darkness...

"We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there too"
-Kristin Martz

Summer has officially past here in the Southern hemisphere and I have started to utilise more of my winter wardrobe
in my outfits. I took these photos a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post them, so this outfit would be a bit chilly
for current temperatures. But I've decided to post it anyway; in memory of summer for those of us from the Southern
hemisphere, and as something to look forwards to for the Northern.

Even if you don't know me in real life, I think it's pretty obvious that I have a love for bright pink. I gravitate towards it, and
even though I have ended up with a wardrobe full of a lot of black, bright pink often pops up. This outfit features some pink
accessories with an outfit of black, all against some beautiful New Zealand scenery...

hunger games parachute necklace - amazon
lipstick - MAC prolongwear "Dear Diary"
floral crown - supplies from spotlight
top and skirt - Glassons
shoes - Rubi shoes
bracelet - pandora

Yesterday my mum and I went fabric shopping to get some fabric that's kinda cool and a bit different, plus I had one
impulse buy that I'm excited to figure out what I'm going to do with. So now that I've got a bit more free time I'll be able
to work on some sewing projects again, yay!

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the results of these ideas :)

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I don’t see how an article of clothing can be indecent. A person, yes.
- Robert A. Heinlein

A few weeks ago when Tara and I went up to our local park to photograph her ball gown, we entertained a few people
walking past when we switched places and she became the photographer to snap these photos of my outfit. So there
she was, dressed up in this gown looking ready to head to a ball and she was taking photos of me, the one in
a casual outfit and unwashed messy hair. We really should of taken a photo of that, what a laugh!

Anyway back to the outfit, this tapestry bustier is a new favourite of mine from Glassons. Even though were going into winter
here in New Zealand, I couldn't help whipping off my denim jacket and showing it off for you guys. I was channelling
my inner 'fashion photographer off-duty' style in this look, pairng it with my purple Barney pants and comfy brown sandals.

Bustier : Glassons
Belt : Mum
Shoes : Clarks
Jacket : Valley Girl
Barney pants : Thrifted
(I call them my barney pants because they remind me of Barney the dinosaur tehe)

Interview : Pretty dresses in the laundry

The sign that a blog is truly great is when you just cant get enough of it. When constantly find yourself checking it for updates
and posts. One blog who has had this effect on us for a while now is 'Pretty Dresses in the Laundry'. 17 year old blogger Kate is
based in Australia and has over 37,000 tumblr followers and 1000 likes on her facebook page, talk about blog-spiration!
We are so excited to finally share this little interview we did with her!

1. When did you start PDITL and where did the inspiration come from?
It started back in 2010 when I was only 15. A couple of friends of mine had Tumblr's and although I couldn't really
see the point of them, I made one and fell in love instantly. From there on, it slowly morphed into fashion.
2. How did you come up with the name?
It's actually based off an old wives tale that only pretty dresses leave the laundry clean.
3. Your blog is based on Tumblr, do you find that sets you apart from other bloggers?
is it an easy to follow platform for your readers?
While Tumblr is a very fashion orientated community, it's a difficult platform to make your name known outside of it. I think it
makes my blog unique as there aren't many blogs like mine on Tumblr, meaning that it does stand out. It's an easy platform
to gain followers though and to interact and find other blogs.
4. How much time a week do you spend on your blog?
It really changes each week, it depends on what I have planned. Probably about half an hour a day,
plus whenever I do a shoot or anything that takes time and planning.
5. I've been a fan of yours for awhile now and in a year I have watched your blog rapidly grow.
What advice do you have for other bloggers?
As corny as it sounds, I think the one piece of advice I have is to stay true to yourself and be unique. If you
don't remain individualistic, your blog won't stand out. The other thing is, be friendly!

6. What is the craziest thing you have ever done for your blog?
Taking outfit posts on a crowded beach in the rain or in the middle of a busy market were probably fairly crazy,
they attracted a lot of odd looks. The other thing would be blogging at midnight right before bed all through my final year
of school after studying all night. Shooting a long sleeve, thick maxi dress in the middle of 40 degree heat was also pretty crazy.
7. Favourite blog post so far?
Just recently I did a flashback post. I found old photos from when I was young and recreated the outfits. It was a lot of fun and
I like how it turned out. The post's I did over Christmas I really liked too because I got to take my photos in such interesting places,
I really liked this postthis one and this one
8. Favourite item in your wardrobe?
At the moment it would have to be my Sportsgirl overalls. I'm in love with them!
9. Who takes the photos for your outfit posts?
Up until the end of last year, I took them all myself with either a remote or self timer, but now, most of the time, my brother
takes them for me.
10. Do all your family and friends follow you blog?
Yes, most of them do!
11. What are your future aspirations?
Hopefully to work in the fashion industry! I'd love to work in a fashion magazine or something like that.
12. What do we expect to see from you over the next year?
Hopefully my blog continuing to grow and become more widely known within Australia and outside of the Tumblr community.

Take a look at her cool layout!

Thanks so much for the interview Kate, hope you guys enjoyed it!

The Knight plays black jack...

"I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night"
- Sarah Williams

Something I realised the other day was that there were somethings I hadn't done in ages. Two of these were straightening my hair, and
painting my nails. Today's post funnily enough includes both.

If you frequent tumblr you'll probably see from my outfit that I've been spending entirely too much time on there, and that it is influencing
my outfit choices haha: Spike necklace, booties, denim cutoffs all part of the uniform.

nail polish - The Black Knight, Union Jack Black
necklace - Vintage love
top - Mink Pink (altered)
boots - thrifted
Bag c/o yeswalker

We were pretty please with how these photos turned out, though it feels so cold at I am writing this I don't know I'll be wearing this combo
 again for a while

Till next time, stay swaggie...
(omg why did I write that, It was meant to be ironic but whut why)

How two keep in style..

"The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time"
-Bertrand Russell

We waste a lot of time scouring the internet for new favourite online boutiques. Granted, most of the time our student
budgets dont allow for frivolous spending and we end up deleting 'wishlists' we have spent hours assembling. But we
have struck gold, in the form a style platform/shopping experience from down under (or across the ditch for us kiwis):
We were pretty excited when the package from Style Keepers arrived the other day, especially after spending hours coveting
items on their website. Two of these lusted after items have been welcomed into our wardrobes; a pair of nude
wide-leg pants and a statement floral blazer.

Sticking with the Australian theme, we took inspiration from our favourite Melbourne based blogging duo, sisters from
How Two Live. We tried out our best side-by-side poker faces, but as you can see by our last photo, that didn't last long...

Tara:                                                        Ellen:
